RENEWPORT Partners met in Piraeus

23/04/2025

RENEWPORT Project Partners met in Piraeus, Greece, on 8th April 2025 for the 4th Project Steering Committee meeting.

It was a great opportunity to get all together and analyze one of the first deliverables and one of the most important outputs of RENEWPORT, the RES toolkit for MED ports. The responsible partner, Fundacion Valenciaport, presented how they developed this toolkit, which is designed to compare the solar and wind potential of Mediterranean ports and has a form of a web-tool. The idea is to create a tool that allows inexperienced users to estimate solar or wind energy generation for a given area, while also enabling expert users to input detailed parameters for more precise calculations. This flexibility ensures that the toolkit will be accessible to a broad range of stakeholders while maintaining high accuracy for technical users.

The discussion continued on the upcoming activities involving the pilot actions and investments to be completed by each partner. The general reminder is that although implemented in different locations, the pilot activities and investments belong to the same, unique, output which is the “Tool for ports as clean energy hubs”, needing constant exchange of information among partners. At the end, the partnership will be able to communicate how much CO2eq has been avoided thanks to the implementation of the pilot activities/investments.

Busy months are ahead for RENEWPORT, with many activities, stay tuned to not miss all the updates!
